Barb's career in dentistry started in 1978 and includes 15 years caring for patients in an orthodontic office. A native of Tigard, she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene from the Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland. After graduating in 1996, she started working with Dr. Richard Johnson. She’s excited to continue supporting Dr. Chung and our remarkable family of patients.
Barb values the relationships she develops with each patient under her care. She focuses on positive coaching that enhances wellness, blended with genuine empathy. Barb’s personal experience included extensive dental care as a patient before entering the profession as a provider. While her family expressed surprise at her career move, she expresses only positive memories of her dental visits. Her experience drove her desire to contribute to a positive atmosphere that helps others even when they’re anxious about their treatment.
Barb’s favorite quote is from Dr. Suess: "Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow will be another one." She even painted it on the wall of her beach house before changing it to: "Today was great because great is even better than good!” Both phrases reflect her optimistic outlook on life.
In her spare time, Barb likes cooking, mushroom hunting, visiting her vacation home in Lincoln City, and traveling. Her favorite trip was a special trip to Thailand.

Outside the office, Kelly enjoys staying active, cooking new recipes, traveling and relaxing with friends. One of her favorite trips she most recently went on was a two-week exploration of Europe. She looks forward to seeing more countries and cultures in the future. One day Kelly would love to own a Bernese Mountain Dog.
Kelly’s favorite quote is, “It’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” – Marilyn Monroe.
